Environmental Art
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works that God has prepared in advance, that we should live in them.”
Ephesians 2:10
Environment Craftsmen… are individuals of any age who help create, assist and maintain the reverence necessary for the liturgical seasons of the Catholic Church.
History has established liturgies that follow specific colors and requirements for the celebrations that accompany the Liturgy. Ordinary Time is the majority part of the year. Major Liturgical Seasons, such as Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter require a change in the Art Environment.
Church Environment requires constant thought, creativity and ingenuity on maintaining a respectful environment but adaptations and changes need to occur with time.
The entire Sanctuary is centered round the Altar, the Tabernacle and the Sanctuary Candle. Decor pertains to anything that is used in the Sanctuary… including plant life. It all needs care and maintenance.
Requirements:
- Ordinary Season, the predominant time, requires minimal time
- Major Solemnities require more time, effort and assistance to maintain a stress free environment. Many times preparing the Sanctuary requires more than one work session
- Decoration removal and storage occurs as seasons and liturgies change
